Rio has been dancing in the Northern Colorado region since January of 2000 when she began taking lessons from Julia DiVerdi of TribalTique Fort Collins who then taught a version of tribal style group dancing. Rio later went on to study for several years under teachers Andria F. and Hannah W. of Rocky Mountain Belly Dance Company. Since then she has studied zils, veil, floor work and Turkish Romani style with Eva Cernik of Denver, Colorado. She has received additional training from Aradia of Las Vegas, Lubna Emam of Cairo, Egypt, Suzanna del Vecchio of Denver, Taka of Denver, and zil work, drum solo technique and Arab folk dance from Karim Nagi. Her improvised American Cabaret style is energetic, fun and engaging.
